The campus is lit with fiber optics provisioned from multiple providers. Those providers connect to offsite through separate building entrances. Additionally they come from separate telecommunications central offices.

IP traffic is then protected by a special protocol called BGP that will maintain connectivity if either Milwaukee or Chicago suffers a major outage.
